Bright, fun and perfect for reinventing your favourite pair of brogues or trainers, socks with a pop of bright colour are a super playful trend

This season’s style is all about unlocking the secrets of menswear: loose-fitting shirts, wide-legged trousers and flat shoes are the height of cool. As yet, though, we’ve failed to include the most playful element of a man’s wardrobe – socks. No, not Christmas-themed multipacks. I’m referring to the elegant flash of yellow or electric blue sported by knowing men to finish an outfit. Eye-catching socks are great for injecting fun into our new-found minimalism, and it’s easy to try the trend. Invest in soft, cotton-rich trainer liners with bold colours or patterns, and try them with brogues or in-vogue white trainers. To tick all the fashion boxes, wear them with a slip dress or culottes.
